October Anthems

 

Happy October and hopefully the end of 100 degree weather!! 

We have some special celebrations this month with the 170th birthday of the church. Our schedule is slightly different than usual as your director will be headed to Chicago the second week of November. So we will sing the first Sunday of November and the choir will have the second Sunday off. Below are our songs for this month and the start of next. 

Sunday October 13th: Come Follow Me Forever - Michael Haydn

Sunday October 20th: Yonder Come Day - traditional Georgia Sea Islands Spiritual

This is a simple breakdown though we will extend just a little bit to include the congregation. You don't have to do the movements (except the clapping) 

Sunday October 27th: Near the Cross/Sanjola - This is a traditional hymn that we will sing part of in Lingala. This is a link to a version I sang the man from the DRC who taught this song to me. We will be singing slightly different parts, but this is the general idea. 

Sunday November 3rd (Catholic All Souls and All Saints Weekend):
